Canterbury United Awards

Last night Canterbury United Players, staff, volunteers, sponsors, friends and family all came together at Botanic on Oxford Terrace to celebrate the recent 2020/2021 season.

The night was in contrast to traditional awards evenings which are typically more formal. This year, Canterbury United wanted a more player-centric evening. The feedback was for a relaxed affair with the primary purpose of coming together over good food and drink.

Canterbury United has enjoyed a successful 2020/2021 season. The Futsal Pride played back in February of 2020. They finished top of the Women's Futsal SuperLeague but unfortunately narrowly lost in the final to Auckland. The Futsal Dragons didn't quite have the same success as the women but found some great form late in their campaign.

The Pride women won their third consecutive title and their sixth in eight years. It is a team and a programme that repeatedly excels with a professional work ethic. They continue to make Cantebury United incredibly proud.

Despite finishing 6th on the table, the Dragons narrowly missed out on a semi-final spot. They had an excellent year that was filled with hard-work and performances that epitomise the Canterbury United spirit.

The club's focus now shifts towards building for another year of Futsal and Pride success and supporting the region's clubs in the revamped Men's National League competition.
