There were no upsets in the opening round of the Blackwells Holden English Cup with all the higher placed sides progressing. In the all Premiership tie Christchurch United came from behind to defeated Nomads 5 - 2 with Oliver Colloty scoring a hat-trick for the Rams. Current Cup holders Cashmere Technical went to the break level at 2 - all with Waimak before Technical finished strongly, bagging three goals in the final 13 minutes, with Yuya Tuagahi coming off the break to grab a double, one from the penalty spot.
Ferrymead Bays were too strong for Parkland when winning 5 - 0 with both Caleb Manson and Ryan Stanley claiming a double. Selwyn recorded the biggest win when accounting for Mid Canterbury 8 - 1 with Dan Ede and Mackenzie Caughey each matching one another with a hat-trick. Despite having a player sent off in the opening ten minutes Halswell came out on the of the Championship leaders, Western 2 - 1. After a scoreless opening half, Chris Whiteside put Halswell ahead before Craig Bellemy headed home a second from a free-kick with a late Omar Cameron penalty giving Western hope but could find a second. FC Twenty11 advanced over St Albans Shirley when goals to Harrison Bowman and Mostafa Rajabi.

Ferrymead Bays Premiers and Cashmere Technical and Halswell Championship Side advance from the opening round of the Blackwells Holden Reta Fitzpatrick Cup. Ferrymead Bays Premiers were too strong for the Selwyn Championship side when winning 7 - 0 with Jess Dyer claiming a handful of goals with Ella Fong and Connor Duggan also scoring. Technical's seconds were also too strong when accounting for Bays second side when winning 9 - 0, with Sarai Dyck scoring four times with Ava Herrick claiming a brace. Halswell accounted for Coastal Spirit 5 - 2, with Ella Fryer scoring twice for the Hawks, with Isabella Donald doing the same for the losing side.
