Guest Speakers: Trevor Burgess and Jeff Barnes on crossing the Cook Strait

Trevor and Jeff, both life members of the club (between them members for over 50 years) have both also made over 500 crossings of Cook Strait.
Come and take advantage of them sharing this vast amount of knowledge on crossing the Strait. The strait is a natural wind

funnel bordered by high geographic features on the North and South Islands, and this can create a formidable challenge for boats sailing to and from the South Island.

Topics will include wind, tides, tide sets and tidal streams, sea states and lots, lots more,  basically everything you will need to know to be able to plan and make a safe crossing and return. This is one presentation you don’t want to miss if you are planning on heading across the strait. Put it in your diary now!

ANNUAL PHOTO FISHING COMPETITION 2025 IS NOW UNDERWAY

This competition is being run to encourage members and their families to get out and enjoy the marvellous resource we have on our doorstop by taking a photo of your catch and entering this in the competition. Also, to gain maximum points you will need to target different species, which will hopefully encourage anglers to expore fishing opportunities they have may have not considered.

Full details are on the Photo Fishing Competition page.

Thanks to our generous sponsors we had a full prize table for the 2024 Annual Photo Fishing competition.
