Haere Mai, Welcome to
Mana College Sport
Sport is an integral part of college life and forms an important link to the values of manaakitanga, ako, ngakau and aspire that the college promotes.
At Mana College, we have a policy of sport for everyone. Through a values-based approach, Sport offers wide-ranging benefits for our ākonga and we want as many students as possible involved. We strongly believe that sport will help students flourish.
Mana College is committed to offering multiple pathways within sport. Our high-performance pathway has grown considerably in recent years, with many high-performance coaches and ex-athletes offering their considerable expertise in developing our young athletes. We are constantly evolving in this space with the aim of offering responsive, needs-based programmes to our talented young people.
Team sport is at the heart of our sporting culture. We have a proud history of participation and success in team sport and this continues to be so. While high performance is not our sole success factor, we take great pride in the many Mana College teams that compete at a premier level. It is fair to say that while we are a small school, we certainly don’t lack in pride, passion, and determination.
A significant number of alumni have continued from Mana College to become successful sportsmen and women at amateur and professional levels, including All Blacks TJ Perenara, Rodney So’oialo, and Tamati Ellison, Māori All Black, Jacob Ellison, Tall Black Jordan Ngatai, golfer Michael Campbell, Black Stick Lisa Bishop, and basketballer Leone Patterson.
