Manawatū Rugby is proud to confirm the continuation of its partnership with Higgins Concrete, who return as Principal, Naming Rights and Front of Jersey Partner of the Manawatū Turbos.
Following a successful first year, the partnership moves into year two with strong alignment around performance, community, and a deep-rooted connection to the region. Higgins Concrete has long been part of the Manawatū Rugby story, with a relationship that extends well beyond sponsorship.
MRU Chief Executive Doug Tietjens said the continuation reflects a strong and aligned vision, noting that the first year of the partnership had been a real success.
“Our vision is to bring our community together through rugby, and continuing this partnership with Higgins Concrete is something we’re incredibly proud of, especially as they celebrate their 50th anniversary this year,” he said.
Tietjens added that the strength of the people behind Higgins Concrete and their understanding of sport and community had made the partnership a natural fit.
“Their support has been incredibly valuable, and working alongside Mike, Shane, Bernie, Sir Pat, and the wider team has been a real privilege. They genuinely understand the role rugby plays in bringing people together, and we’re excited to build on that momentum into year two.”
Higgins Concrete General Manager Mike Botherway said the business was equally proud to continue its support of the Turbos.
“Rugby plays a huge role in connecting the Manawatū community, and that aligns closely with our values at Higgins Concrete,” he said.
“For us, it’s about more than what happens on the field. It’s about backing local people, supporting local talent, and being part of an organisation that represents pride, resilience, and teamwork. We’re looking forward to standing alongside the Turbos again this season.”
The continuation of the partnership reflects more than a commercial alignment, bringing together two organisations with a shared commitment to the region and its people. Higgins Concrete’s ongoing support strengthens the Turbos programme while also enabling the Union to continue creating meaningful impact within the community.
As both organisations look ahead to the upcoming NPC season, the partnership provides a strong foundation to keep building something the region can be proud of.
