As a Team Official for Mangere Hawks Netball Club we would like to ensure in regard to your conduct as an Official and in any role you hold within our club.

1 Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person

2 Ensure the player’s time spent with you is a positive experience- All players are deserving of equal attention and opportunities

Treat each player as an individual- Respect the talent, developmental stage and goals of each individual player- Help each player reach their full potential

4 Be fair, considerate and honest with players

5 Be professional in and accept punctuality and responsibility for your actions.- Language, manner, preparation and presentation should reflect high standards- Display control, respect, dignity and professionalism to all involved with the sport – this includes opponents, coaches, officials, administrators, the media, parents and spectators.- Encourage your players to demonstrate the same qualities.

Make a commitment to providing a quality service to your players.- Maintain or improve your current coaching accreditation- Seek continual improvement through performance appraisal and ongoing coach education- Provide a training programme which is planned and sequential- Maintain appropriate records e.g. time spent on court for each player

7 Operate within the rules and spirit of netball - The rules and guidelines of IFNA/NNZ should be followed- The New Zealand Sports Drug Agency provides legislation to operate within

8 Any physical contact with players should be appropriate to the situation and necessary for the player’s skill development- Understand that your intentions and the players interpretations of touching will be influenced by cultural differences and religious implications.- Be sensitive to the impact of different degrees of interpersonal proximity and be aware that unnecessary touching may offend

9 Refrain from any form of personal abuse- This includes verbal, physical and emotional abuse- Be alert to any forms of abuse directed towards your players from other sources whilst they are in your care

10 Provide a safe environment for training at facilities and in competition- Ensure equipment and facilities meet safety standards- Equipment, rules and the environment need to be appropriate for the age and ability of the players

11 Show concern and caution towards sick and injured players- Provide a modified training programme where appropriate- Allow further participation in training and competition only when appropriate- Seek medical advice when required- Maintain the same interest and support towards sick and injured players

12      Be a positive role model for netball and players

NETBALL GUIDELINES FOR PLAYERS CODE OF CONDUCT & ETHICS

As a player in any netball or netball related activity held by YOUR Netball Club, you must meet the following requirements in regard to your conduct during any such activity or event.


1 Play equally hard for yourself and your team.  Your team’s performance will benefit and so will you.

2 Treat all players as you would like to be treated.  Do not bully or take unfair advantage of another player.

3 Control your temper, any verbal abuse or deliberate contact.  Abusive behaviour is unacceptable.

4 Play according to the rules of netball and the principles of fair play.

5 Never argue with an umpire.  If you are concerned, talk to your coach or captain.

6 Be a good sport, cheer all good play from both your team and the opposition.

7 Appreciate and co-operate with your coach, team mates and officials.  There would be no game without them.

Take responsibility for your performance on and off the court.
