WEARING OF SKINS/COMPRESSION GARMENTS

It is noted that a few of our teams are allowing players to wear skins.

Unfotunately this is not allowable and has been an NZRL Medical Board rule for a few years now. If you have one of the little blue ARL Handbooks it is actually on Page 26 of the handbook.

We realise that most will let players wear them because of the cold but they can do the opposite as well hence the reason why the rule is in place. You can apply for dispensation through the NZRL Medical Board as it is not an ARL rule. See below

Compression Garments

No player is permitted to take the field and play wearing compression or thermal undergarments longer than below the knee or the elbow during a game.

This is a mandatory New Zealand Rugby League policy as is applicable in all grades (U/6 to Premiers).

A player may apply to the New Zealand Rugby League Medical Council for dispensation on medical grounds. Any application should be forwarded to:

New Zealand Rugby League Medical Council
P O Box 12712

Penrose

Auckland 1642

Any application must include a specialist medical report.
