Wellington Marist AFC head into the 2024 season hoping for a year of growth and triumph. With 6 registered teams, the club is small, but we hope to grow, and we know that our rich history and great culture fosters a brilliant team environment. 

First Team

Capital 1 football awaits the firsts, who kick off the season next week against the Wellington Phoenix 4ths. While the team has retained the majoity of the boys from last year, there are a few fresh new faces.

The importance of our promotion into Capital 1 should not be underestimated. It opens the door to regular high-level football every weekend, presenting a valuable opportunity for the club to climb back towards the heights of success it has previously enjoyed.

Reserves

These are exciting times for a rejuvinated reserves team, who have undertaken a restructuring following a disappointing 2023 season. An influx of bright new players have bought plenty of talent to the team this year, and some are saying they are the team to watch.

Capital 4 football is an unpredictably talented grade, but the boys are up to the task and are hoping for a promotion when all is said and done. Regardless of the final outcome, this group of boys have a big season coming up, with it kicking off in two weeks against the Victoria University Raiders.

Masters

Our three masters teams are the glue that binds the culture of our club. Everyone involved in the teams are hoping for another year of entertaining football, which seems to follow Marist around wherever we go.The Mavericks will be taking the field in the Masters 2 grade, The Cavaliers in Masters 5, and the Classics in Masters Over 45's.

With half of our clubs teams residing in the Masters grades, the importance of these men and their supporters cannot be underestimated. They turn up week in week out and with their ongoing support, they keep our club kicking. 

Social Team

The Wellington Marist Baggies keep our social football scene alive. Their lack of training is more than made up for by their raw talent, which can be seen on display this year in the Wellington 2 grade. Their season kicks off in two weeks. 

Website

As you can see, Wellington Marist's new website is up and running. While some sections are yet to be filled, the modernisation of this aspect of our club represents our intentions to build a system which will ensure our survival and growth now and into the future. Please feel free to provide feedback and advice to us regarding the website, and if you're keen to help write sections and/or articles, we would love for you to help. Finally, putting together a document of our history has proven difficult, and if you or anyone you know of knows any Marist history, we would love to hear from you.
