There are 4 singles and 2 doubles games. The matches are first to 21.

PRESEASON

In 2025, there will be a preseason session for all teams to learn the rules, how to serve and how to score. These will likely be run by a coach from Badminton Wellington Centre and will be at the end of Term 1 and early Term 2. All players registered will be contacted about these.

SOCIAL & COMPETITIVE TEAMS

There is an option to play Badminton either socially or competitively. Players can make up teams with their friends, or they can trial and be placed into a team that will play at a higher level. 

Social teams do not need to trial but must consist of six players and each player must be entered online individually. A list of team members must be submitted to the Director of Sport by the end of March. If you would like to be play socially but don't have a full team of players, please contact Rosie and she can place you in a team with others. 

Please note on your registration form whether you would like to play socially or competitively, and you will then be contacted directly about what that means for you.

NB: There are no coaches for badminton teams at Marsden. Senior students will attend the Friday lunchtime trainings to assist Juniors where needed.

COMPETITION 

Some social grades only play in Term 2. When sending your team list to Rosie, please note whether you would like to just play in Term 2 or would like to also play for the first 4-5 weeks of Term 3 too!
