Welcome to the Marton School and Marton Distirct High School 150 Year Reunion website.

Over Labour Weekend, Friday 21 to Sunday 23 October 2016, we celebrated 150 Years of educating the children of Marton and our town's surrounding areas.

What a weekend it was!  The celebrations were a huge success with lots of fun, opportunities to meet many interesting people and to learn new things about today's Marton School.

We started with a Friday evening Meet and Greet.  Over 200 people gathered in the School Hall to catch up with old friends and acquaintances, reminise, and wander through the wonderful displays put together by the current staff.

Saturday was the biggest day on our programme.  The weather was fantastic for the whole day - just what we ordered!  The Street March grew substantially on the morning to an impressive parade of students and staff spanning 95 years of Marton School.  The parade was led by the Marton Police and Marton Pipe Band.

It was a special day for our oldest ex-student Miss Beryl Gray (101 years old) and our youngest, Eva Ford (just 5 years old), who cut the cake at the opening ceremony.

Coinciding with the  Reunion events was the Marton School Gala which offered lunch, shopping, activities and an impressive display of vehicles of all varieties and ages.

Dinner and dancing on Saturday night was held in the Memorial Hall on Wellington Road.  Spectacularly dressed in silks, you wouldn't have recognised the hall!  A wonderful time was had by all.

The weekend wrapped up with a church service on Sunday that was combined with the 1st Marton Scout Group Centennial celebrations, followed by a 'paper bag' lunch.

There are so many people who helped to make the weekend such a success.  Thank you to all the past and present pupils, staff and associates of the school who attended.  A huge thank you to the Reunion Committee for their hard work over the 18 months prior to organise the celebrations.  Thanks to today's students and staff for the incredible amount of work they put into preparation of our school.

Last, but by no means least, this Reunion would not have been possible without the generosity of the Marton business community, so a massive thank you goes to our main sponsor Bridgestone Rangitikei Tyre Centre Ltd and to all our other sponsors.

A final word to the 2016 Marton School students.  In 2041 you will be invited to attend the 175th Reunion.  Think back on this past year, on what you have learned and the things you have celebrated.  Remember the time capsule and please come back to see it opened!
