WELCOME TO THE MENZIES RUGBY WEBSITE

Menzies offers Rugby from Year 7 to 13. Girls are welcome to play, alongside the boys for Year 7 & 8, and if numbers allow a girls team is created for the Year 7&8 girls and the Year 9 & 10 girls. There are options for Year 11-13 girls to play in a combined Eastern team.

In 2024 we have the following teams:

Caldwell Contracting Maruawai Menzies Colleges 1st xv (combined team), Menzies Under 16, Menzies Under 14, Menzies A Grade, Yr 9 &10 Girls and possibly a Yr 7 & 8 girls team.

The Caldwell Contracting Maruawai Menzies Colleges 1st xv are now playing in the Rugby Championship as they were invited into the competition by OSSR. The games are on Saturdays. They practice on a Tuesday in Mataura and a Thursday in Wyndham.

The Under 16, Under 14 and A Grade games are all played on Saturdays (unless there is an event on, where games may be played mid-week), with practices on Tuesday and Thursdays after school on the dog box field.

The Girls games are all played on Mondays.

We have been fortunate to have the support of parents and volunteers willing to coach and manage our teams and we are grateful for their knowledge/experience and time they invest into our players.

We have a Rugby Committee that comprises of parents and volunteers, which meet once a month to plan and discuss each season. The aim of the committee is to align with the requirements of Rugby Southland and the NZRU and provide a safe and enjoyable environment for our children to play rugby within. Our committee meetings are open and all are welcome to attend.

Rugby Registrations - 2024 season

Online rugby registration invites have been sent out to existing database Menzies players. If you could re-register using the link in the email, and update any information (if required) would be greatly appreciated.

This should not take too much of your time. Remember you can not take the rugby field if you are not registered.

Subs:

The rugby subs have been set for 2024. The fee is $60 per player inc 1st xv. The 1st xv also have a contribution (still to be set) towards their kit and other expenses for the season. We appreciate if these subs could be paid by 31st May 2024.

To pay subs there are the following options: • Cash in a named envelope, handed into the school office • Internet banking: Menzies Rugby account 03 0962 0066078 000 (preferred option). Please put players name and sub or gear as reference/details.
