The Mid Canterbury Rugby Union are excited to announce the appointment of Tanya Dearns to the position of CEO with MCRU.

Tanya brings an extensive knowledge and expertise in community and high-performance sport to this role.

Tanya, a former NZ Silver Ferns player is enthusiastic to be taking the reins in mid February 2022 and making it her priority to meet with all MCRU stakeholders, clubs and the wider community.

Tanya is passionate about effecting positive change, from creating opportunities to grow the grassroots game to restoring Mid Canterbury to the top of the Heartland competition”.  She is realistic that there are challenges ahead and says…

Tanya has been involved in sports administration for over 25 years, across a number of sports, including some time working in New Zealand central government for the Minister of Sport.  She has been very fortunate to have held several High-Performance netball coaching roles both in New Zealand and internationally.  She has close ties to Ashburton and is looking forward to relocating to the area.
