MENS:
Well what a busy week we had.
Men’s Pennants at Khandallah on Wednesday where they secured 2 pts and currently sit third in Div 2 one pt off promotion with just three rounds to go.
On Thursday at the very picturesque Silverstream club R Ashton, C Gosling & D Allen were attempting to defend the title they won last year but after putting up a brave effort missed out on making post section. However a strong showing by team 2 with Jim Swift, Tereska Knap & Keith Hastings and team 3 with Dave Shedlock, Mike Andrews & Viv Borrie flying the club colours in Post Section. Jim’s team succumbed to the eventual winners from Naenae & Shedlock & team losing their semifinal to Tawa who in turn lost to Naenae in the final. A great day.
Come Friday and the club had two teams at Johnsonville's Mixed Triples where Andrews supported by Knap & Borrie finished third.
If that wasn’t enough the excitement of the last two rounds of Interclub were played on Saturday. Div One Men beat Lyall Bay quite comprehensively in the last round at home to make sure they retained their place in Div One for next year. Div One ladies after being promoted from last season into Div One also did exceptionally well to make sure they will also play in Div One next season. Congratulations to you both.
Men’s Div 3 who was also promoted from last year came very close to gaining promotion to Division Two for next year. Div 5 sevens where we had a composite team playing against experienced players as opposed to playing in the quads like last season, gained invaluable experience and will be better prepared for next season.
On Sunday continuation of Men’s Pairs were played where we have Two teams who have Qualified for post section with third & fourth spot still up for grabs.
This Saturday we continue with club championship where the attention will turn to Champ singles and the draw for that will take place on Friday night at the club.
