Each winter season, NCBA enters teams into the Canterbury Basketball Club Competition under the “NC” Banner. 

This competition is a great step up from our 4D Freight FNBB competition for kids to continue their development. In alignment with our development philosophy, we aim to provide the opportunity for everyone to play who wants to. 

The 2024 season runs from the end of April to the end of August, with games played throughout Christchurch on Saturday and Sundays against clubs from the region. Additionally, teams train 1x per week. 

Grades that are offered in 2023 by NCBA are below alongside their trial information.

To help with choosing your age groups -
Boys & Girls U13 - born 2011, 2012, 2013
Boys U15 - born 2009, 2010
Girls  U16 - born 2008, 2009, 2010
Boys U17 - born 2007, 2008

Trial dates for 2024 are below for each grade.

Male Grades

U13 Boys - 

(Please note U13 Boys games are on Saturday and the U13 Girls games are Sunday)

  • Games are played on Saturdays afternoons. Players can often play another winter code alongside this. Teams will do their own bench duty during the season. 
  • Trials for teams are held at Mainpower Stadium (two days)
  •  27th March 5:00pm - 8pm (session 1  5.00pm - 6.30pm)
                                                 (session 2  6.30pm - 8.00pm)
      AND
  •  3rd April      6.30pm - 8pm 

    U15 Boys

    • Games are played on Saturday afternoons, players can often play another winter code alongside this. Teams will do their own bench duty during the season.
    • Trial for teams at Mainpower Stadium
    • 6th March 5:00pm - 6:30pm

    U17 Boys

    • Games are played on Saturday Mornings 
    • Trial for teams at Mainpower Stadium
    • 6th March 6.30pm - 7.30pm

    U20 Men

    • Games are played on Saturday afternoons
    • Trial for teams at Mainpower Stadium
    • 6th March 7.30pm - 9.00pm 

    U23 Men  

    • Games are played on Saturdays mornings
    • Trial for teams at Mainpower Stadium

    Womens Grades

    CBA has restructured the womens grades to better align with the age and stage requirements of the community. A key point in this change, is only 2 girls per team are allowed to play up a grade, this is change from previous where girls have often played 1 or 2 grades above their age. 

    U13 Girls

    • Games to be played on Sunday. Teams will do their own bench duty during the season
    • Trials for teams at Mainpower Stadium
    • 3rd April  5pm - 6.30pm

    U16 Girls 

    • Games are played on a Sunday. Teams will do their own bench duty during the season
    • Trials for teams at Mainpower Stadium
    • 13th March 6pm - 7.30pm

    French Cup (U17 - 23)

    • Games are played on a Sunday
    • Trials for teams at Mainpower Stadium

    Adult Club Basketball 

    Division 1 Men and Women 

    • Games are played on Sundays, and is targeted towards adults who still want to play competitive basketball, but cant committ or the body doesnt hold up to premier basketball. 
    • No trials for these teams, but please contact us if you are interested in playing. 

    Premier Women and Men 

    • Both teams play on Saturdays, and are known as the Wildcats and Tarheels. These are the top 2 teams to play for in North Cantebury. ​​​​​​​
