Congratulations to the Centre’s in our Zone who participated at the U18 National event in Hamilton in July.

Some of our Mainland Team had the opportunity to join the teams up in Hamilton, which enabled us to connect and provide support as required at the Championships.  It was also fantastic to see the teams demonstrating a high level of sportsmanship both on and off the court – their positive interactions with those around them were great to see.

Something new this year at the event was the Coach Lead group (Leads from all the Zones across New Zealand), gave coaches and umpires the opportunity to participate in a courtside kōrero – if you get the chance, have a chat with the coaches and umpires who participated in these, to see how they went.  Hopefully, there may be some additional interest in this concept at your Centre’s of which we would be more than happy to facilitate to begin with – just let us know.

Special mention should also go to the players for the consistently high standard that they executed the NetballSmart warm-up across all four days of the event.  We know this dedication certainly had influence on the low serious injury count at the Championship!

We look forward to hearing from Netball New Zealand in the very near future around the dates and venues for the 2024 event.
