Netball Mainland Zone

Introducing Lou

 Oct 2023

Kia ora from Lou Milne, I’m the new Participation Lead for the Netball Mainland team.

Like many girls in New Zealand, I grew up at the local netball courts of a small rural community as my mum played netball and was also on the committee. I was born in Tapanui, West Otago (population 800) and as a teenager moved to the big smoke of Christchurch (population 383,000).  I didn’t know anyone so joined a local netball club, where I played and coached until I went on my big O.E.  After a few years overseas, I returned to Christchurch, got married, had 2 x amazing daughters Hannah 17 and Liv 14 and like me, they have also grown up at the netball courts.  We now live in the “Town of the Future” (Rolleston, Canterbury) as dubbed in the 80’s.

I have been working in the private sector as well as volunteering for club’s / centre’s for the last 20 years and have been in a range of varied roles including Club Executive, Club Treasurer, Centre Junior Programme Co-ordinator, Coach, Representative Manager , Team Manager to name a few.

I enjoy meeting new people and believe that netball creates wonderful opportunities to meet lifelong friends.  The people I have worked alongside have had an amazing wealth of knowledge and are happy to share & support me along my journey.  Everyone has something to contribute and everyone knows something.

Really looking forward to meeting you and connecting further. If you see me out and about – please stop and have a yarn.

See you at the courts!
