Social Netball - Can you afford to be injured!?

As twilight Netball begins to fill our longer evenings, we want to ensure our summer recreational players enjoy their time on court, connecting with friends and whānau, playing the game we love injury free. The Social NetballSmart Power Warm-Up was developed to encourage players of any calibre to prepare their bodies by doing a short netball specific warmup.

Common barriers to not warming up tends to be time constraints, space allocation, and limited knowledge on what to do in preparation. The Social Power Warm-Up was designed to meet these factors, allowing each exercise to be done in a confined space (on the sideline), and in as short as 5 minutes! It helps to decrease injury and gets you primed and ready to play. Make it fun!!! Get in a circle with your teammates, or make a game incorporating the exercises… You don’t want to be that person who has ‘fear of missing out’ (FOMO) due to an injury.

DID YOU KNOW:

  • 29-40+ demographic is the only age group currently where the injury rate is INCREASING.

  • Serious injuries (like ACL, Achilles) may keep you out of all sport for up to a year, and after approx. 10 years we see signs of osteo-arthritis.

  • 50% of those who sustain an ankle injury will re-sprain within 12 months.
