I am always excited to talk about Netball! Recently, I had the chance to put my enthusiasm into action by hosting an online hui for coaches attending the NNZ U18 Champs. During the session, we were able to share insights on preparation and participation for the event. Joining me were guest coaches Pelesa Semu, the NZ Secondary Schools Head Coach, and Jo Morrison, the NZ Secondary Schools Assistant Coach. 

The discussions centered around the impact of the national squad's four focus areas and how these relate to the U18 space, both on and off the court. The focus areas are: 

• Intensity 

• Transitioning to different environments 

• Fundamentals 

• Athlete habits 

There was some valuable korero around this well attended event.

It was fantastic to have our Mainland coaches attend and contribute to this development opportunity. Additionally, umpires participating in the U18 Championships had the chance to join an online hui hosted by Netball New Zealand, which focused on the same four areas and how they pertain to umpiring. 

It is exciting to see all aspects of the game develop together around these focus areas. Thank you to Netball New Zealand for making these learning opportunities accessible.
