With a lot of AGMs taking place across the region at the moment these can bring changes to your Board/Committee members. Now is a good time to reflect on how your Board/Committee is functioning and do you have the right support structures in place?  

There are a lot of resources around to support learning and growth in governance, but it doesn't always just happen.  Having a common goal, clear expectations and robust systems, underpins a high functioning, strategic, Board/Committee. 

Irrespective of whether you are a Governance Board or Governance/Operational Executive Committee, the key is having clarity and understanding around where the operational lens fits into your structure.  

Do your operational discussions sit at a portfolio Committee meeting or are you discussing these things at your Board meetings?  How you answer this question will give you some insights into what you may want to review.
