We have been spending time in local Centres, working alongside coaches and umpires to support their development journeys. Kaikōura put on a stunning day - there was great gameplay, a positive sideline atmosphere, and umpires who were eager to take a proactive approach to their officiating.
The following weekend, we travelled to Westport to connect with the Buller Netball Centre. It was fantastic to see all FutureFERNS age groups participating on a Saturday, with fun and engagement front and centre. Smiles all around - such a great reminder that grassroots netball is thriving, even in our smaller communities.
We had the pleasure of delivering development sessions for Year 5/6 and Year 7–11 players and coaches. An amazing turn out with over 50 players and 10 coaches. It was great to work with coaches who then partnered with players to ensure a strong developmental approach across the Buller Netball Centre. It would be wonderful to have the umpires join us next time too - although we were thrilled to see many already involved in the sessions as both players and coaches!
On our travels, it is not just the netball that captures our attention – the stunning natural beauty across our Mainland Zone is a major attraction too.
A massive thank you to both Kaikōura and Buller Netball Centres for welcoming us. We truly value the opportunity to work with those who contribute so much to netball and are committed to continually improving the experience for everyone involved in the game.
