Kia ora koutou – A Message from Jane Wilson-Fouracre
I’m really excited to be joining the Mainland Netball and Netball New Zealand whānau as the Mainland Netball Pathway Development Lead.
Netball has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I've been involved in the sport in a variety of roles over the years, and what continues to inspire and motivate me is working alongside strong, talented wahine toa. I’m passionate about helping create environments where they can grow, thrive, and succeed.
I grew up on a farm in Southland, which was an incredible place to learn about the value of hard work, teamwork, and resilience. Those early lessons have stuck with me and shaped my approach to both sport and life.
After studying in Dunedin and teaching in New Zealand for three years, I moved to London, where I took on teaching roles in some of the city’s more challenging schools. I later moved to Wimbledon, where I taught and coached Netball, and had the amazing opportunity to be involved with the early days of the English Indoor Netball team—now known as the Nets—first as a player and then as a coach.
In 2010, I returned to Aotearoa with my English husband, and we settled in Christchurch for seven years. During that time, I taught at several schools, coached Netball, and had the privilege of working with the Tactix as a Performance Analyst for five seasons. We also had the opportunity to assist the Silver Ferns analyst on a couple of occasions—an unforgettable experience!
After Christchurch, we moved to Tauranga, where I spent nearly five years as Assistant Director of Sport at a large school, while continuing to coach and manage Netball teams.
Now, we're back in Christchurch and loving it. I’ve continued my involvement in the sport by managing both school and Open teams. When I’m not on the court, I love to travel, keep active, and spend time with whānau and friends.
I’m truly looking forward to working with the Mainland Netball community and helping our athletes on their journey. Thank you for the warm welcome—I can’t wait to get started!
