We are excited to announce Jo Morrison as Head Coach of the Southern Blast for 2021.

Morrison led the team in 2020, but after the Beko Netball League campaign was cancelled twice as a response to Covid-19, Morrison is excited to come back with in 2021.

“I’m really excited, I feel like we have some unfinished business as we could not play this year, but I learnt so much from the systems and players and have lots of new ideas that I want to bring for next year”

With planning well underway, trials are set for 13-14 November to select a wider training squad, before additional trials will be held early next year to select the Southern Blast team. Morrison will be looking at appointing her wider coaching and management team in the coming weeks just ahead of the trials.

Selectors from across the zone have been involved in identifying the players to be invited to the trials for the Off-Season training squad.

As a result of the COVID 19 and the review Netball New Zealand is going undergoing, it is still unknown what the Beko Netball League will look like in 2021. But recognising the importance of this league, NNZ has encouraged zones to get on with establishing their management teams and getting trials underway. The details of the structure of the competition will be released in the near future.
