On Saturday, 7 March, the Netball WBOP Zone office was filled with energy, ideas, and collaboration as umpires and leaders from across the region gathered for the Forging the Future workshop. The session created a valuable opportunity for participants to share their perspectives on the current processes within the umpiring space and to explore what the future of umpire development and support within the zone could look like.

The workshop was designed to encourage open discussion, connection, and collective thinking. Throughout the session, participants engaged in thoughtful conversations and brainstorming activities, reflecting on both the strengths of the current system and areas where growth and improvement are possible. The atmosphere was one of positivity and shared purpose, with everyone contributing their insights and experiences to help shape the direction of umpiring within the WBOP Zone.

A highlight of the day was the presence of Josh from Netball New Zealand, who joined the workshop to offer valuable insight into what a successful zone can look like. His contributions provided a broader national perspective and helped frame the conversations around opportunities for development, alignment, and future success.
