Positive Vibes Are Making a Difference Across Our Netball Community

It’s been fantastic to see so many of our Centres embracing initiatives that create positive, welcoming environments both on and off the court.

Te Awamutu and Taupō Netball Centres have been leading the way this season through their Positive Vibes Only (PVO) campaigns, which are all about promoting respectful sideline behaviour and celebrating the values that make our game great.

As part of their initiatives, both centres have created a few Game-day initiatives that re-enforce the "Why" of PVO. Taupo are recognising players who demonstrate outstanding sportsmanship, encouragement and positivity, while each court in Te Awamutu have a dedicated PVO Ambassador of each team that champions the PVO kaupapa. These ambassadors represent their teams by helping to create a supportive atmosphere and encouraging positive behaviours from players, coaches and spectators throughout their game. It’s a simple but effective way to ensure everyone can enjoy netball in a safe, inclusive and encouraging environment.

The positivity hasn’t stopped there. Recently, Hamilton City Netball Centre and Tauranga Netball Centre hosted Pink Week, with players, coaches, volunteers and supporters embracing the occasion by dressing up in pink. It was wonderful to see their communities getting behind the initiative and creating such a vibrant atmosphere around the courts.

These initiatives are a great reminder that netball is about more than just the score. By celebrating positive behaviour, showing kindness and creating welcoming environments, our centres are helping ensure everyone has a great experience. A huge thank you to Te Awamutu, Taupō, Hamilton City and Tauranga Netball Centres for leading the way and continuing to make a positive impact within their communities.
