Masters swimmers /club members swim on a Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays, 8 am to 9 am.

We train at the Olympic Pool in Newmarket. It is a 50m pool. We have two coaching lanes at each session.

There is a faster and not so fast lane. For the fast lane, you will need to be able to maintain 1 min 50 secs (for each 100m) for 10 x 100 as a starting point. You can choose which one you want to join, although the coach may direct you to the most appropriate lane as well! Check out the qualifying to swim section on the Swim Squads Newmarket details page. Each training session is an hour. On average we swim between 2500m - 3000m per session. It varies depending on the type of training sets completed within each session.


You will need a set of toys to support your training sessions.

  • Swim fins
  • Pool buoy
  • Paddles
  • Band
  • Snorkel (optional, but good to have if you are comfortable using it)

These are used in most sessions, in various combinations. If you don't have any, they can be purchased from Swim T3 Grafton shop, (just down the road from the pool on the corner of Park Road and Carlton Gore Road) or online. There are mobile outlets over the summer as well (Takapuna beach series and Kohi summer swim series)
