In 1979 the North Shore Association broke away from the large Auckland Centre and formed a new Centre. In 2006 it changed its name to North Harbour Indoor Bowls Centre, which reflected the region's new sporting identity.
Today the Centre is made up of 6 clubs between Orewa in the north and Takapuna to the south.
All Centre Championships and Open events are held at the Kristin School gymnasium, Gate 1, Albany Highway, Albany. Most events are held on Saturdays between 9am and 5pm, with the Centre actively involved in representative games as well throughout the playing year.
Most clubs open in February and extend their playing programme to around October each year. Details of the numerous clubs, their venues and playing nights are available under the "Clubs" heading.
This is a game for all ages and skill levels, whether you just want a night out at your local club or want to extend yourself at the many Centre championships, against bowlers of all abilities.
