FOREST RIDING PERMITS

The only Forest open for Motorcycle Forest Permit holders is the Moutere Forest and ONLY with your current valid Forest Permit carried.

There is to be NO riding in the burnt area. Our club has negotiated Permit access to encourage more of our riders to enjoy the trails in these forests that are right on our doorsteps and benefit all parties involved with great riding, insurance cover for the forest owners and less stress for everyone.

Junior riders can now also buy a Permit but must ALWAYS have a Senior licensed Permitted rider with them. As a group, we expect Nelson Club members to encourage other riders to get their Permit as every rider in the forest must carry their own Permit. We would also appreciate riders reporting abuse of the scheme or damage to forest property to the Committee so we can continue to have riding access for these great areas.

  • Your Permit Pack includes Permit Access Maps that show NO-GO areas, so PLEASE STAY OUT OF THEM.
  • Riding is available during daylight hours on weekends and public holidays. Please stay out in other periods due to other hunting and forestry operational users.
  • Never Paint, Mark or Remove trees.
  • Keep Left on all tracks and roads, obey speed (50km in the Forest) and other road / forestry signs.
  • NO Fires, NO Hunting, NO Firewood collection.
  • Always be aware of forest closures for fire or other sporting events. Permit holders will be advised of these by email by the commitee.
  • Forestry security has increased and Trespass Notices will be issued. If you recieve one you cannot ride in Club events in the Nelson or Marlborough Forestry areas.
