Years 2: futureFERNS

​​​​​​futureFERNS is Netball New Zealand’s official junior netball programme.  To ignite a lifelong involvement in netball, a sequential programme has been developed that is at the right level for the players at each stage. The emphasis is on fun activities conducted in a safe environment.  Small sided games are the preferred training method and are proven to be the most appropriate way to enhance skill and tactical development.

In Term 2, players attend a weekly training session held in the Northland Community Hall.  

Year 2 

Introduces Netball to 5-6 year olds. The aim is to develop fundamental movement and basic Netball skills. Playing 4 v 4 allows the players to pass, catch and shoot from day one. During three Saturdays in Term 3 players may choose to participate in a fun mini-tournament with other Wellington West schools where they can apply their new skills.
