Rave 5 - 2019

A good win for the Prems, Friday down @ Vauxhall 49-17 v Marist. The team are just starting to look like the promise they had showed in the pre season and the Club should be happy with what we are seeing. A bit of a slow start and you have to take away the Glenfield game but we are starting to see the true potential of the side.

Great to have James Little, James Fiebig and Donald Coleman all back from their sojourn off shore and yes they were back for the Glenfield game. These three add a big plus to this team and was great to see Jacob Pierce also back last week and playing v Marist until he sustained a pretty serious rib injury which could keep him out for a couple of weeks.

There is some talent in this side with a young Caleb Leef having his 3rd game @15, Conner Hill his 3rd game @ 10, Opeti Tuipolotu Lomanu & Josh Third both only a couple of games in the front row and we are starting to see some real depth in the side. Another solid game from Rex Pollock and Kerian McBride and then we have one Daniel Hilton-Jones always the steady reliable mid fielder. There is good healthy competition @ 9 with Sam Babb and Brad McNaughton two quality half-backs.Tim Young did himself no harm coming off the bench into the front row. Then we bring on Daniel Lee into the backline and Dan Sinclair into the front row. We have depth with both sides which will be a telling factor at the business end of the season. There were 48 players at training last week according to Mr Botica and having those numbers could be a bit of a headache to handle but it makes for great competition for both teams. Must also mention what a great season Jake Antonio-Rooney is having as Capt of the Prem side.

The Prem 2 side also had a good win v Marist 47-7. Some good talent in this side with Mosese Pepa down from the Prems and getting over an injury. Cameron Dalzell playing 15 and son of a good man Rex Dalzell, Hamish Pyne having a solid game @ 9 and Matthew Corliss also a solid game @ 4.They had a solid front row in Charles Pettifer, Kai Stroem and Samual Cheeseman. Niwa Whatuira always gives an uncompromising game @ 6 and the team is well led by Ben Browne playing @ 5. He is not the biggest lock in the Club but you get 80mins out of him. They also had a solid bench with Pierce Bryers, David Motutere and Kahurangi Karanui to name a few. Could we be seeing some silverware this year with these two teams, early season still but things are looking good.

Talking Samuel Cheesman it was great to see his father Simon [ former Chairman at Takapuna ] getting up on stage and putting a NSRFC playing jersey on. All in good fun. Maggie Barry enjoyed having the Mic to talk about the unofficial Anzac Parade down Devonport this Thursday, Mr Gundry just loves that women. Great to have our local MP in the Club though she really enjoys the place and all you Shore people and well done for the Bubble people still having Anzac Day.
