FIRST MARLIN


2023/24 FIRST MARLIN OF THE SEASON

Taranaki Hunting & Fishing have kindly sponsored the prized for first NPSUC tagged or weighed Marlin of the 2023/24 Season. The prize is a Shimano Tiagra 50W Reel combo.

General Rules

  • There is one prize only – for the first Marlin either Tagged or weighed meeting these rules.
  • The angler must be a paid up 2023-2024 NPSUC Full member prior to leaving the harbour. Associate and Day members do not qualify. There is no additional entry fee for Full members.
  • The Marlin must be caught within the NPSUC boundaries.
  • The Marlin must be caught under NZSFC Fishing Rules and Regulations.
  • The first Marlin (the winner) will be the first Marlin weighed or a tag card presented to the weighmaster meeting these rules (including photo (if tagged) and verified equipment meeting NZSFC Fishing Rules and Regulations).
  • The clock above the bar will be the official time if more than one Marlin is tagged or weighed on the same day.
  • Boats must leave from and return to Port Taranaki.

The Weighmasters decision regarding the first qualifying Marlin will be final and no further discussion or correspondence will be entered into.

The prize will be presented to the winner by a Taranaki Hunting & Fishing Representative, details including photos of the winning Angler and Marlin will be posted on the club’s website and Facebook page. By receiving the prize you consent to the sharing of the Catch details including Angler within the wider community including Hunting and Fishing.

For tagged marlin the following additional rules apply:

  • The angler must supply the weighmaster and the club a clear photo of the marlin showing the tag, the photo must be date stamped.
  • Photos of any tagged Marlin must be forwarded to: [email protected]
  • All equipment used to catch the Marlin must be presented to an official NPSUC weighmaster to verify compliance.

For weighed marlin the following additional rules apply:

  • For clarity, the marlin must be a minimum weight of 90 kg’s.
