Applications for Community Club Director of Rugby
Northern United Rugby Football Club is seeking expressions of interest from experienced candidates for a fixed-term Director of Rugby position.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone with a strong work ethic and proven experience in high-performance rugby coaching. The position requires flexibility to work hours aligned with the sporting environment, including evenings and weekends throughout the rugby season.
The Director of Rugby will report directly to the Club Chairman.
Key Responsibilities
As Director of Rugby, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Fostering Young Players: Develop player skills, promote rugby at the junior level, and identify and nurture emerging talent.
- Senior Success: Create and support pathways to professional rugby, promote player wellbeing, and assist in the development of coaches through upskilling and attainment of coaching accreditations.
- Leadership Represent the club within the wider community, including primary schools through the junior programme; acknowledges and celebrates the achievements of coaches and players; and demonstrates strong administrative capability.
- Strong Club Culture Live and promote club values, foster a supportive and inclusive environment, contribute to financial sustainability, and actively engage as a positive member of the community.
About You
You will bring a professional, energetic approach and uphold high standards both on and off the field. You will also demonstrate:
- Proven experience in high-performance rugby coaching
- Relevant coaching qualifications and/or tertiary qualifications
- Experience in pastoral care and welfare, including the selection, supervision, mentoring, and development of players, coaches, staff, and volunteers
- Strong attention to detail with an organised and proactive approach to workload and problem-solving
- Ability to work independently and show initiative
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekend game days
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to represent the club professionally at all times
- Strong IT capability relevant to the role, particularly in performance review and preview processes
