The fixtures for the 2026 men’s and women’s Dettol National League Championship have been released today New Zealand Football.

Both competitions get underway on 26 September.

The women’s Grand Final is pencilled in for the 28 or 29 November while the men’s Grand Final is scheduled for either the 12 or 13 December.

This will be the final season both competitions will be played in this format, with changes coming to the Dettol National Leagues next year with a full winter national league, both leagues club-based for the first time and promotion and relegation.

The 2026 men’s competition will consist of the following 11 teams: Defending champions Auckland City, Auckland FC Reserves, Auckland United, Birkenhead United, Cashmere Technical, Eastern Suburbs, Ferrymead Bays, Miramar Rangers, Napier City Rovers, Wellington Olympic and Wellington Phoenix Reserves.

The 2026 women’s competition includes nine clubs: 2025 champions Auckland United, West Coast Rangers, Eastern Suburbs, Waterside Karori, Fencibles, SU University of Otago, Wellington United, Wellington Phoenix Reserves and Mainland Pride.

SU University of Otago will be the first university women’s side to reach this stage of the competition, with their entry into the Dettol National League done in partnership with Southern United.

The Girls Youth National League also kicks off this month on 19 September and will run alongside the senior Dettol National League.

“The changes we made to the National League formats during Covid and run over the past five years were designed to enable a sustainable top tier league that was truly integrated with both the domestic football pyramid. With game having grown and evolved we are now ready to move to two full club-based winter leagues aligned with the domestic game and integrating the professional clubs.

“This Dettol National League Championship season begins off the back of a hugely successful Delivereasy Chatham Cup and Kate Sheppard Cup finals held at One NZ Stadium in Christchurch where more than 11,000 people attended. It proves that passion for domestic football runs deep in New Zealand with I’m sure many fans excited to see how this season’s championship plays out.”

Every game in the men’s and women’s National League Championship is broadcast live and free on FIFA+, with highlights available on the New Zealand Football YouTube and social media channels.
