Ingham scores stunning pair of strikes

Dane Ingham, second from right, celebrates his match winner against the Central Coast Mariners

Young All White Dane Ingham has been making his mark on the Hyundai A-League, scoring two spectacular goals in as many games for the Perth Glory since the competition’s return.

The 21-year-old had previously only scored one goal in the A-League – for previous club the Brisbane Roar over three years ago – but has now tripled that tally in stunning fashion.

Ingham, the younger brother of fellow All White Jai, firstly helped his side stay on the coat-tails of the top four by providing a superb winning strike in a 1-0 triumph over Central Coast Mariners.

Perth dominated for long periods but only Ingham was able to find the net, getting in behind the Mariners defence before cutting the ball inside onto his right foot and unleashing an unstoppable effort into the top corner.

Tony Popovic’s side failed to build on that win in their next outing against the Wellington Phoenix, in which Ingham was again impressively on target as he came up against several of his international team mates.

The quality of his strike was of an even higher order this time, the fullback receiving the ball well outside the box before curling a perfectly-placed shot past the despairing dive of All Whites goalkeeper Stefan Marinovic.

His efforts were in vain on this occasion though as his goal just past the hour wasn’t enough to prevent a 2-1 loss.

Perth Glory are now fifth, just one point behind Brisbane Roar and with a game in hand.

Despite his tender years, Ingham has already made seven full international appearances for the All Whites and played in all three matches at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.
