Orca Swimming Club Invercargill

About Our Club

We are an amateur swimming club that welcomes swimmers of all levels — from beginners just starting out to those training for competition.

Our swimming season runs annually from Term 3 (July) through to the end of Term 2 (June) the following year. Club nights take place on Tuesdays from 6:00 to 7:30 pm during Terms 1, 2, and 3. We take a break during Term 4 each year.

Key Events

  • Assessment Nights are held in the final week of each term, helping to track swimmers' progress and guide their development.

  • Distance Nights take place twice a year, towards the end of Terms 1 and 3. These nights offer swimmers the chance to challenge themselves and work towards their distance certificates.

  • Club Champs are held around the end of Term 2. This fun, members-only racing event is a great introduction to competitive swimming, with opportunities to win trophies and certificates.

  • Prizegiving and AGM are held in Term 3, where we celebrate the accomplishments of our swimmers and the wider club community.

Our club is run entirely by volunteers — from coaches to committee members — and we are always grateful for any new support. Whether you’re interested in helping poolside, assisting with administration, or joining the committee, we’d love to hear from you!
