Ben Herring announces he will finish Head Coach role at the end of 2019

Otago Rugby’s Mitre 10 Cup Head Coach Ben Herring has announced that he will be finishing his role following the 2019 Mitre 10 Cup campaign.

Head Coach Ben Herring said “It has been a fantastic experience being involved in Otago rugby.  During my time here I have personally grown a lot working in this environment. The players, coaches and wider staff have a fantastic love for the game as do the community at large, and it’s been awesome working in an environment with so much passion. My family and I are at a stage in life where the opportunity exists, whilst my children are at an appropriate age, to tour the USA in a RV. This has been a bucket list type adventure which we are all excited to take. The Otago region is a place we have a lot of fantastic memories and in time we will no doubt make a return. I intend to put my all into this coming season, and help grow the team on and off the field.”

Richard Kinley, General Manager said “Obviously we are disappointed that Ben is finishing at the end of the Mitre 10 Cup, however this trip is something that Ben and his family have always wanted to do and we wish them all the best with their adventure.  Ben has added hugely to the culture and environment at Otago Rugby, not only with the Mitre 10 Cup team but right across the organisation, which we will all miss.”

The process to find a new head Coach is likely to commence June/July.
