Welcome to the
Otaki Pony Club Website

Otaki Pony Club is a group committed to promoting and improving the quality of horse riding and horse management, while having a great time with like-minded people. Using the NZ Pony Club Association framework, our under 21 year old riders work through the riding and horse management syllabus and, if they wish, sit exams at each level.

The Club is an active partnership between our coaches, our riders and their parents/supporters.

Otaki Pony Club is one of the five branches of the Horowhenua Pony Club. Horowhenua PC is part of the Manawatu West Coast Area Pony Club.

Otaki PC is a friendly club with about 25 riding members, aged between 5 and 17 years old, who own or lease their horse or pony.

The pony club season runs between August and April. Mounted rallies are held in the grounds of the Otaki race course. We aim to hold rallies approximately fortnightly.

Until daylight saving begins, rallies are generally held on a Saturday, 1.30-3pm. For the rest of the season, we meet on alternate Thursday evenings, 5:30 - 7:00pm.

We have a great selection of games and show jumping gear. We also have excellent cross country jumps in the paddocks next to Te Roto Road.

Each season Otaki PC members and their supporters run a gymkhana, a jumping day and a combined training day. They also help with two or three Horowhenua PC events.

We welcome anyone interested in pony club - we are more than happy to answer your questions, and invite you come and observe at a rally.
