Our club is located at Scott Park, Christchurch Estuary, Ferrymead. Scott Park is best at high tide with easterly winds. Perfect for beginners with a huge area of waist deep water.

At low tide, speed sailors enjoy the narrow flat water in the deep water channel which snakes through the estuary.

The estuary high tide is an hour behind the forecast at Lyttleton Harbour. Sufficient water to sail at the estuary when high tide at the harbour. >2.1mtr tide height for all sailing in the Estuary. Less than that and its a walk out/back 100mtrs to the deeper spots. That normally gives us a four hour session when the tide and wind allows

5 to 15knot wind speed is beginner friendly. Summer mornings often sees a light Westerly from the mountains, swapping an afternoon steady Easterly seabreeze (15-25knots). An occasional wild North West or Southerly wind is normally very strong and gusty (not beginner friendly in the Estuary)

For evaluating if we're getting out of bed and where to go windsurfing, we use the following websites.
