The Papatoetoe Wildcats American Football Club provides Tackle Football and Flag Football opportunities for children, Juniors, Colts, Women and Men.
We are a proud, family-focused club where new and experienced athletes can learn, compete, develop and belong.

What We Offer
The Wildcats provide opportunities to participate in:
- Junior American Football;
- Colts American Football;
- Women’s American Football;
- Men’s American Football;
- Kids Flag Football;
- Senior and Youth Flag Football; and
- coaching, officiating, team management and volunteering.
No previous experience is necessary. We welcome new players and families and will teach you everything you need to know.
Our Home
Ōmana Park in Papatoetoe is the 2026 home of the Papatoetoe Wildcats American Football Club.
Returning to Papatoetoe places our club close to local transport, makes training accessible for our families and strengthens our connection to the community represented in our name.
It is where our teams train, our whānau connect and the next generation of Wildcats begins its journey.
Our Legacy
The club was founded by Pose Tafa in 1986 as the Central Pirates—one of four inaugural teams in the George O’Scanlon-led NZAFL competition.
The club later became the Central Wildcats and East Auckland Wildcats before finding its home in Papatoetoe in the early 1990s.
Our proud championship legacy includes:
- Eight Premier Men’s Kiwi Bowl championships
- Five Colts Unity Bowl championships
- Six Women’s Kiwibowl championships
- Women’s Flag silver medals at the 2022 Auckland and National Championships
The Wildcats’ legacy lives through everyone who has worn the red and black or contributed to our club. While many have since pursued new chapters beyond the game, their pride, connection and continued support remain an important part of who we are today.
Our 40th year is an opportunity to reconnect and bring generations of Wildcats back together.
