Goalball

Goalball is exclusively a sport for athletes with a blindness/visual impairment.
Goalball was invented during World War II in an effort to rehabilitate blind veterans of war.

The object of the game is to roll the ball into the opponents goal while the opposing players try to block the ball with their bodies.
Bells inside the ball help orientate the players indicating the direction within which the ball is coming. Therefore whilst play is in progress, complete silence is required.

Paralympic Classification

All blind athletes in all three classes (B1-B3) compete in open competition.
