Awards - Life Membership

ParaFed Canterbury recognises those people who have made an outstanding contribution to our organisation, or have achieved at the highest level, by awarding them our highest honour - Life Membership.

Jeremy Morriss was announced as our 18th Life Member during our Awards Function held last week.

At the age of 18, Jeremy competed at his first Paralympic Games in Athens 2004. He was a member of the team of four that secured New Zealand’s first and currently only ever Paralympic medal in the sport of Boccia, winning silver.

The New Zealand team would go one better two years later at the 2006 Boccia World Championships in Rio de Janeiro winning gold.

Jeremy is a two-time Paralympian, having also competed at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.

He was named the ParaFed Canterbury Sportsperson of the Year in 2006 and has won the Boccia Club Player of the Year Award on three separate occasions.

Jeremy is still actively involved in domestic Boccia competitions and has assisted the local Boccia Club for over 10 years.
