Court-side Etiquette

Patumahoe Netball has a great reputation for politeness, sportsmanship, & great etiquette - lets let's ensure we stick to our reputation.
Here is a timely reminder about good playing &; spectator manners. Please take heed & let your family know how best to behave court-side:

  • Remember umpires are volunteers & are doing their best - they might not get it right every time but they are trying their best - Be supportive &; make sure you thank them for their efforts. Without umpires, we wouldn't have much of a game!
  • If watching court-side, please always be 1m back from the line &; give the umpire free room to run up &; down court-side freely. There have been the occasional nasty accident &; we don't want that at our games.
  • Remember to ALWAYS thank the opposition &; the umpires no matter what happens - what goes on on court, stays on court.
  • Taking photos or videos - In today's world of social media & phone cameras, be aware you should not post pictures online of people without their permission. This can & has led to 'difficult situations'. Please ask the umpires & the opposition if they are okay with taking photos or video, & respect their wishes. Inspect the photos to ensure no one can be seen in a compromised or grossly unflattering light.
  • Parking - Parking is at a premium at the courts on Saturdays. Please park considerately - no parking on yellow lines, on the grass or in the garden, blocking access in the carpark, blockin people from their houses, or in reserved spaces. You might just get a ticket or towed away.
  • No abuse, swearing, or derogatory cursing of anyone on or off the court - that includes team members, spectators, officials, or opposition players. This is unacceptable to our club.
  • Wear your new uniform with pride, when you wear it, you represent everyone at the club - we are Patumahoe Netball & we are proud of our reputation.

Players, coaches, managers, parents - hold each other to these rules & don't be afraid to nicely let someone know when they can improve.
