Mullet Boat Harbour

J Pier has gone and the new walkways, ramps and marina moorings are being built.

The Mullet Boats are now relocated to AB Pier – at the opposite end of the break water to the Ponsonby Club.

Currently the last ramp and gateway is not open so it is a looooong walk along the new marina board walk. Hopefully the new gate will open soon and halve the distance!

Tags will get you in but the doors open automatically to let you out again!

The corner of the Marina allocated looks quite appropriate and it is a short sail out to the newly relocated starting line. Westhaven Marina will install more cleats where needed – DON’T drill holes in their new Marina!!

It will be interesting, and advisable, initially to check the moorings during very high tides and a fresh northerly as the area may not be as sheltered the J Pier corner. Secure the gear & covers.

One big advantage - it is a long way from the Buoy Café and currently there is a large parking area.

And PLEASE guys – Westhaven is providing you with an exclusive mooring area – This may be permanent or they may reinstate an area at J Pier but not before Christmas IF the boats are worthy of viewing!

There will be signage & we could look at sponsorship for new covers if the fleet were to move back to a more high-profile site.
