The Junior Steps Programme is an ability based competitive programme, commencing at step 1 and become progressively harder. Gymnasts are assessed into the programme and move at their own pace through the steps. Our Junior Steps Programme is for the aspiring competitive gymnasts attending class for 4-9 hours per week.

Gymnasts learn skills and routines on the traditional girl’s artistic apparatus: vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise.

Expectations
As this is a competitive programme, the expectation is that gymnasts in this programme enter Junior Competitions. Competitions are usually held in terms 2 and 3. Competitions are held on one day over a designated weekend. It usually takes 2-3 hours for a gymnast to compete at a competition and there are 4-8 competitions per year.
The focus in term 1 and 4 is on skill development.

Additionally WAG gymnasts are invited to participate in Gymnastics Camps and extension trainings at other gyms.

Gymasts enter the WAG programme by invitation.  Gymnasts are usually identified by coaches in the Gym For All classes and asked to attend Profile Testing Days in Term 2.
