History of the Pacific Motorcycle Club 

1903
Napier Motorcycle Picnic Club formed as a social club for picnics and social events.

1905
First Competition events held.

1913
Name changed to Napier Motor Racing Club.

1914
WW1 Most members away at war.

1920
The beginning of many years of grass track racing.  One mile grass track racing at Napier Park Race Track, Taradale, plus (an impossible) grass hill Climbs at Sugar Loaf Hill, Taradale.

1928
Club Incorporated, in those days the club was mainly run not by riders but the committee made up of lawyers, doctors, councillors. Riders at Napier Park were not allowed on the lawn, only men wearing a suit and tie.

1940
Club in recess due to WW2

1947
Trustees would not release funds.  A group mainly of new members joined the Hawkes Bay Car Club and formed a motorcycle section. Ran sprints and hill climbs.

1952
Car club group took Napier Motor Racing Club out of recess.  Trustees still refused to release funds. Over 20 years later when only 3 trustees were still alive they begged the club to accept the funds so they could close the trust account.

1950 / 1960’s
During this period the main competition consisted:

Motocross meetings at the Pakowhai tip, Puketapu & Ohiti.
1 km sprints at Rangitane Rd, Omaranui Rd & Waitangi Road.
Standing ¼ mile at Thunder Park and Otene Rd.
Road Hill climbs at Seafield & TeOnepu.

Street races were run at Ahuriri around the south pond.  Bridge & Coronation Sts., & Battery Rd: First club in NZ to bring a team of Motocross riders (6) out from Europe.  Billeted in Napier: Rode at Puketapu, Auckland, Woodville & Christchurch.

1970 - 80’s
Sprints & Road & Grass hill climbs continued.

Onekawa street races from late 1960’s to 1988. These were big meetings on the NZ calendar. With over 100 helpers on site & lots of Industrial sites to co-ordinate.  Truck loads of hay bales, etc.

In these days the club rooms were in Onekawa with annual rates over $1200. The club had to run the street races to survive.  The club rooms took over a year to build (all voluntary labour) few years after they were sold they burnt to the ground.

1999
Started running road races at Centennial Park Taupo. In a small way, operating in centre field.  Around 50 competitors average.  Currently the club runs a sucessful Summer Series of around 120 riders per round, with racing spread between the road racing circuits at Manfeild and Taupo.

2000
Club name changed to  "Pacific Motorcycle Club Inc"

2003
Started Bucket Racing at Onekawa, Whakatu, later at Waipawa.

2008
Bucket racing started at Roys Hill until 2011.

2010
Club is asked to run the 7th annual Taupo Road Race Spectacular for the first time.

2012
Club ran its first National Road Race points round at Taupo.
