​​​​​​​Waitahinga Trails-Chicken Run & Rimu Walk 25/2/23
Willem was able to squeeze in one last tramp, this one being a morning tramp out at Waitahinga Trails. We tramped the Chichen run, found our way through the pince then had a clockwise look of the Rimu walk to Croopers Clairing. Light rain fell but nothing too major, but unfortunately due to the weather the mountains were visible from the viewpoints, But still a good view though.

Dawson's Falls to Manganui Tramp 21/1/23

We had 7 Tramping group members on the Tramp from Dawson's Falls to Manganui. Under blue skies but with clouds moving in we set off from Dawson's Falls visitor center and made our way up to Wilkie Pools via the right branch of the loop track, crossing over the Kapuni Stream, and passing by a natural spring and a few small waterfalls on route. From Wilkies Pools we headed to the Stratford Plateau along the recently upgraded track. Then it was the final push up to Manganui Lodge for lunch. After lunch, it was back the way we came, but taking the easier way back 
from Wilkies Pools. Despite the clouds rolling in we got no rain. This tramp has had a special meaning for Willem, as it was his last tramp before he embraced parenthood with his daughter due in March, it was also based on DOC one he did with his late Nanna and Grandad  back in 1996


Rangitikei Bush Walks 31/12/22

We had a small team of 3 people for the new years eve walks. We completed 4 short walks in the lower Rangitikei area. First off we headed to Pryces Rahui Reserve and completed the blue and yellow tracks. Then we were off to the Bruce Park Scenic Reserve. Then for a walk at Laird's Reserve, and finally we did the shorter walks at Sutherlands Puriri Reserve.  

Bushy Park 23/10/22
We headed to Bushy Park for a Hike on Labor Weekend, with a group and 13 people and fine weather. We started with a loop around the wetlands and then we made our way to, then along the fenceline to the Kapiti Viewpoint. Returning back up the Kapiti track back to the homestead.


Fortify Youth Hangi & McPherson's Bush Walk 27/8/22

At the end of August we joined Fortify Youth for their Hangi event and held a bush walk at McPherson's Bush while the Hangi was cooking. 9 people enjoyed the great weather for the walk.  



Ashhurst Walks & Pohangina Valley Glowworms 17/4/22

We had 16 people for our second visit to the Pohangina Valley Glowworms. This time the walk was around the Ashhurst Domain then along the pathway alongside the Manawatu River. Then it was off to Totara Reserve to wait for it to get dark for the Glowwarms.  




Dawson Falls & Wilkies Pools Tramp 12/3/22

This was a split walk with an easier and harder option. The easy option was just walking from the visitor center to Wilkies Pools and back. The Harder option went down the Kapuni Loop Track to Dawson Falls, then up the Ridge Track and finally the Wilkies Pool loop track before rejoining up with the other group and walking back together. While at Wilkies Pools some members made use of the natural waterslide there. Approximately 14-18 people attended this event  


Tutaenui Reservoir + Swim and BBQ 23/1/22
We had 15 people on our trip to Tutaenui Reservoir near Marton, checking out the new lake walk that had recently opened. We only completed the lower lake as the tracks are not yet completed around the upper lake. Following the lake walk we headed to Nga Tawa for a swim in their pool and a BBQ. Then we walked the track that goes around Nga Tawa


Manawatu Gorge 22/1/22

We had 5 people for our wellington anniversary weekend trip to Manawatu Gorge. We tramped to the Windmill lookout point and back, using both legs of the Tawa Loop Track. Great weather and an enjoyable day.​​​​​​​

Mangawhero Falls Tramp 4/12/21

We had a small group of 3 for the tramp to the Mangawhero Falls Base. Starting off on the Waitonga Falls Track, we cut down to the Mangawhero River. We made our way upstream passing a few waterfalls and having to bush bash in a couple of places. It only took about 45 minutes to get to the base of Mangawhero Falls. After lunch we bush bashed back up to the road to avoid having to climb back down the little waterfalls. On the way home we checked out another waterfall and a Culvert or Cave near Raukawa Falls on the Parapara road


Waitonga Falls & Lupton Stream Falls Tramp 20/11/21

4 trampers ventured to Waitonga Falls then onto a nearby waterfall on the Lupton Stream. Starting on in fantastic weather we walked along the Waitonga Falls Track to the falls. Then we tramped downstream along the Mangateitei Stream, up up the Lupton Steam until we reached an unnamed 35m Waterfall. Returning the way we came. An enjoyable off trail experience for all.




Lake Rotorangi Tramp & BBQ 25/10/21

We had 21 people attend our Labor Day trip to the Patea Dam and the Lake Rotorangi Walkway. Overcast and windy day but the threating rain never materialized. After leaving the Patea Dam we checked out the Manawapou Viaduct Walkway. The planned walk along the Patea river and BBQ at the beach was canceled due to the weather. Instead the BBQ took place back at ISBC 

Paloma Gardens 25/9/21We had two trips again in September, with this one going to the nearby Paloma Gardens. 14 people explored the stunning Gardens out by Fordell


Patea Loop Track & Curtis Falls Tramp 18/9/21

We had 9 Trampers enjoyed a tramp in great weather around the Patea Loop Track and up to Curtis Falls and back in the winter wonderland of Egmont National Park. 




Fortify Youth Group Hangi & Bushy Park Walk 31/7/21

The ISBC Tramping group joined in with Fortify's Youth Groups Hangi event for 2021, we did prep work for the hangi. Then a few of us climbed the steep hill behind Doug & Gill's Place. After a BBQ lunch we had about 18 people join us for a walk around Bushy Park. Walking the tracks in a clockwise direction ending up at the wetlands. Following the walk it was back to the Benns for the Hangi :) 





Fitzherbert Circuit 3/7/21

We had 5 people attend the walk dubed the Fitzherbert Circuit. This walk encircled the Fitzherbert suburb of Palmerston North. Starting off from Bledisloe Park we made our way up to Old West Road, then on to Adderstone & Titoki Walkways to get back to the start. We had fine and warm weather for a winters tramp 

Dawson Fall - Wilkie Pools 5/6/215-7 people came on a winter trip to Taranaki, Joseph covering for Willem led them on a walk down to Dawson Falls and then up to Wilkies Pools. Cold and misty conditions, but no rain.Iron Gates Gorge 8/5/21

We had 5 trampers on the May Tramp to the Iron Gates Gorge in the Ruahine Forest Park. We started off on the track to Alice Nash Hut, before heading off down the Sloat Trap Track to get us down to the Gorge. We then made our way up the Oroua River, crossing it multiple times to the a campsite. Then climbed up the track back to the car park 

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​He Ara Kotahi (Manawatu River Pathway to Linton) 20/3/21

We had 8 people on this tramp that ran alongside the Manawatu River, that was held in good but warm weather. Starting off we made our way through the Esplanade untill we got to the He Ara Kotahi Bridge accross the Manawatu River. Then along the He Ara Kotahi pathway which follows the Manawatu River to the Turitea Pā site. From the Pa site the Pathway passes farmland on it way to Linton. After arriving back at the Esplanade we jumped Onboard the Palmerston North Esplanade Scenic Railway for a train ride around the Victoria Esplanade. A couple of us visited the Stairway of Tane following the trainride before heading home.

Ohakune Short Walks 27/2/21We had 8 trampers for Ohakune Short Walks where we did a few short walks around Ohakune in fine weather. Starting off with the Mangawhero Forest Walk, we then walked to the Ohakune Carrot. Then a visit to Lake Rotokura and the Tangiwai Memorial.

New Plymouth Trip 24/1/21On the Sunday of Wellington Anniversary weekend, we headed up to New Plymouth, We had 24-26 people on this trip. we walked the New Plymouth Coastal Walkway from Te Rewa Rewa Bridge to The Wind Wand. Followed by a climb up Paritutu Rock. After Pizza & chips for dinner, we had a look at the Festival of Lights at Pukekura Park. Great weather all day!! Was a long day, leaving after lunch and not getting back till after 1am


Sledge Track & Toetoe, Platinum Mines Loop 16/1/21
A small group of 3 went of us the first tramp of 2021. We planned to complete the Otangane Loop but after a few delays we settled for plan B the Toe Toe Loop & Platinum Mines. Was overcast but no rain

Lake Rotokare 12/12/20 
For the last trip of 2020, we headed to Lake Rotokare, we had 15 group members for the walk plus one in a pram. Willem had an adventure on the trip up, going the "scenic" way and arriving with his car covered in mud! A bit of rain at the start of the walk but it quickly cleared up within a few minutes. 10 members completed the full lake track with the others coming as far as they could with a pram. On the way home a quick visit was made to the Normandy Weir. An enjoyable day for all!

Alice Nash Hut & Oroua River 31/10/20
On the 31st of October 2020, 3 RCTG Members joined the Fortify Youth Group on the first day of the Sixtus Lodge Camp We tramped into Alice Nash Memorial Hut before dropping down to the Oroua River. Then after the big climb up from the river, it was off to Sistus Lodge for Dinner before a visit to the Apiti Glowworm Cave before we headed home


Black Track, Sledge Track Loop 26/10/20
A small group of 4 went of the Labor Day tramp around the Arapuke Mountain Bike Park. Starting off up Black Track, then across Arapuke and then down to the swing bridge linking Arapuke to Sledge Track


Kai Iwi to Ototoka Beach Walk 19-9-2020
We had 8 people attend our afternoon beach walk from Kai Iwi to Ototoka Beaches


Pettifar & Gilchrist Loop Tracks & Pohangina Glowworms 12/9/20
We had 11 people for the Pettifar & Gilchrist Loop Tracks. After finishing the tracks we waited in Totara Reserve for it to get dark, then headed for the Pohangina Valley Glowworms. The glowworms were superb but unfortunately did not show up on camera


Manawatu Gorge 8/8/2020
A small group of 3 of up tramped the gorge from Ashurst to Woodville end and back. A distance of about 24km

Atene Viewpoint 18/7/20
8 RCTG members tramped up to the Atene Viewpoint up the Whanganui River Road. After getting back to the cars we traveled up the river road a little bit to do the Whanganui River Road Culvert Walk


Kitchener Park Walkway & Mt Lees Reserve 13/6/20
Back going again after Covid Lockdown. 6 of us headed to Feilding to complete the Kitchener Park Walkway which run's from Kowhai Park to Kitchener Park. Followed with a Visit to Mt Lees Reserve.


Sutherland & McPherson’s Bush Walks 14/3/20
Our first proper tramp was to some bush tracks up Turakina Valley. Small group of 4 on this trip where we completed Sutherland Mangahoe Track, Sutherlands Puriri Reserve & McPherson's Bush

CastleCliff to Kai Iwi Beach Walk 22/2/20
Our 2nd event was a beach walk from Castlecliff to Kai Iwi. This was run by the fortify youth group.
