RATANA COMMUNITY SMOKING CESSATION PILOT 1 AUG 2009 TO 30 JANUARY 2010

The Ratana Sports Club proudly supports this initiative and will be encouraging members of the club and participating codes to make an attempt to quit smoking.

FACT: the Ratana Sports Club was one of the first clubs to adopt Auahi Kore as part of its kaupapa.

QUIT CARD TRAINING WAS PROVIDED ON FRIDAY 31ST JULY 2009. Those that completed the training from Ratana Community are Jamie Nepia, Dawn Rapana, Chop Motu, Geoff Hipango, Audrey Williams. Grace Taiaroa and Julie Tolliday Poulton facilitated the training. BEING A QUIT CARD HOLDER THAT WILL ENABLE US TO GIVE NICOTINE REPLACEMENT THERAPY AND PROVIDE OTHER USEFUL SKILLS THAT CAN BE DIRECTLY APPLIED TO RATANA COIMMUNITY. NO NEED TO WAIT FOP A REFERRAL WE CAN SEE YOU NOW.

Ratana has been chosen as a community pilot to implement a community driven initiative to assist our people to have a go at quitting smoking. this pilot runs from 1 August to 30 Janaury 2009. Support Workers from the Pa will be employed to engage our community to participate in this kaupapa.

As this initiative develops we will be encouraging ways for the sports club to further promote this.

The Sport Club encourages all players to have a go at quitting smoking we know that this is not easy otira Kia Kaha.
