SANCTA MARIA NETBALL CLUB

SPECTATOR CODE OF BEHAVIOUR

  • Ensure prompt payment of fees at the beginning of the season. Non-financial players are not considered for selection in the Sancta Maria College Netball Club.  Parents are encouraged to approach the Treasurer on any sensitive issues related to the payment of fees.
  • Parents should ensure that players are properly attired for games and training and that the players are present at both training and matches by the stated time.
  • Parents should ensure that uniforms and any other Club equipment are returned at the end of the season or they will be held responsible for the equivalent cost.
  • Ensure prompt collection from practices.
  • Focus on the player’s efforts and performance.
  • Teach children that an honest effort is as important as victory, so that the result of each game is accepted without undue disappointment.
  • Encourage children to always play according to the rules.
  • Never ridicule or shout at a child for making a mistake or losing a game.
  • Support the players from the sideline.
  • Remember that players learn best from example.  Applaud good play by both teams.
  • If you disagree with an official, raise the issue through the appropriate channels rather than question the official’s judgment in public. Speak to the Manager of the team or a committee member.
  • NO verbal and physical abuse will be tolerated at netball games.
  • Remember that the coach, assistants and managers have been appointed to direct and control the team.  Parents should not interfere in that function.
  • Recognis the value and importance of volunteer coaches, assistants and managers.  They give their time and resources to provide recreational activities for the players and deserve your support.
  • Parents should be mindful of the conduct expected of players and themselves. They should ensure that they don’t jeopardise those standards by refraining from the abuse of players, coaches, officials, umpires and opposition spectators.
