First Team Building Momentum as Promotion Push Continues
By Geoff Cooper – First Team Head Coach, South Auckland Rangers AFC
It has been a fantastic period for our First Team, and I’m incredibly proud of the commitment, consistency and belief the players have shown throughout the season.
Top of the Table & 12 Games Unbeaten
What a run it has been for the Rangers!
We currently sit proudly at the top of the Northern Region Football Men’s League One table, backed by an impressive 12-game unbeaten run.
That consistency hasn’t happened by accident. It has come through hard work, discipline and a strong collective effort from everyone involved. The players have continued to show grit when games have been difficult and quality when opportunities have presented themselves.
Being at the top of the table puts us in a strong position, but we also know there is still plenty of football to be played.
A Chatham Cup Journey to Be Proud Of
Our Chatham Cup journey came to an end in the Round of 16, but there is a huge amount for us to take from the experience.
Reaching the last 16 of New Zealand’s premier knockout competition was a significant achievement for the team and the club.
Going up against quality opposition on the national stage gave our players an opportunity to test themselves at another level and showed just what this group is capable of.
While it was disappointing to see the cup journey end, the experience and belief gained from that campaign will only make us stronger.
Eyes Firmly on Promotion
With the Chatham Cup now behind us, our focus is clear.
Promotion remains our number one goal.
The players and coaching staff are fully committed to achieving that objective, but we also understand that nothing is guaranteed.
We won’t be looking too far ahead and we certainly won’t be getting comfortable because of our current position.
Our approach remains simple: one game at a time.
Every opponent deserves our respect and every remaining match needs to be approached with the intensity and determination of a final.
Standards Remain High at Rongomai Park
What supporters see on matchday is a reflection of the work being done during the week.
Training at Rongomai Park continues to be sharp, intense and competitive. Players are pushing each other for places, the coaching staff continues to demand high standards, and importantly, the group continues to respond.
There is a real hunger within this squad to keep improving.
We know there will be challenges ahead, but the attitude and work ethic within the group gives us confidence heading into the crucial part of the season.
Thank You for Your Support
Finally, a massive thank you to everyone who continues to support this team and the club.
To our supporters, families, volunteers and everyone working behind the scenes — your contribution matters and your support from the sidelines makes a genuine difference to the players.
We’ve put ourselves in a good position, but the job is far from finished.
There is still plenty of work ahead, and we need everyone behind us as we continue our push towards our ultimate goal.
