General Info:
A proud and very successful sport at Southland Boys’ High School

Traditionally SBHS has 11 Rugby teams from Under 14 to 1st XV
Year 7-8 play for their respective clubs.
The philosophy of the Southland Boys’ Rugby Club from U17 down is to select teams of even ability. This has worked well illustrated by the incredible closeness of scores when our teams play each other.

Transport:  
Transport to and from games is parental responsibility.  Special events and tournaments often use school minivans.

Games:  
U18, U16, and U14  - Games are played at various school and club grounds throughout Southland on Saturday’s

Practices:
These will be arranged around the coaches availability and are held at SBHS after school 

Uniforms:  
A SBHS playing jersey is issued at the start of the season by the coaches.  Boys are expected to provide their own black shorts and SBHS socks, both are available for purchase at the main school office

Equipment:
It is expected that all boys will have their own rugby boots.  Mouthguards are compulsory

Competition:  
1st XV play in the Otago Secondary Schools First Fifteen Rugby competition.  All other teams play in the Rugby Southland Secondary schools age group competitions. Interschools
