Grocery Grab Terms and conditions
Participation in this grocery grab is deemed the entrant’s acceptance of these terms and conditions of entry. Acceptance of these terms and conditions is a condition of entry into this competition. Raffles, lotteries, and games of chance – these gambling activities are covered by the Gambling Act 2003 and ours is classified as class 2. As such our draws will be supervised by an appropriate person (lottery game rule 6(14).
This Grocery Grab is managed by New World Ilam, 57C Peer Street, Upper Riccarton, Christchurch and Smash Volleyball Club.
The grab will be completed at New World Ilam on Wednesday the 27th of August at 7.15am.
The Grocery Grab winner will meet the owners of New World Ilam and a representative of Smash Volleyball at the entrance to New World for a briefing prior to the Grocery Grab that morning.
The products collected during the grocery grab cannot be redeemed for cash or cash equivalent. New World Ilam usual returns policy will not apply.
The winner will have the opportunity to spend 3 minutes (180 seconds) to place as many groceries as they can grab into the shopping trolley provided.
If the winner is unable to make the date, time or location as outlined or able to be scheduled with approval of New World Ilam, or transferred to an agreed family member or friend, the prize will automatically be forfeited without compensation to the contestant. The prize will be transferred to the next name drawn. The second named winner will then be awarded as the grocery grab winner also.
The contestant will be alerted after each 30-second interval has elapsed.
The named ticket holder must push the trolley and pick the groceries (they can nominate a representative to push the trolley if the named ticket holder is deemed physically unable to do so).
If using a nominated representative, the nominee can only push the trolley, e.g. Trolley pusher cannot assist the grabber. Both pusher and grabber must stay together for the duration of the grocery grab.
Any items that are broken or damaged by the contestant during the trolley dash will not be substituted for undamaged items.
The winner is encouraged to have family/friends present to watch the trolley dash, but they must watch from behind the tills so as not to impede the trolley dash.
There will be a Smash Volleyball representative or New World staff member in close approximation to time, film and oversee the grocery grab.
The start line will be at the front entrance to New World Ilam – but may change based on store recommendations.
Items must be individually picked and CANNOT be strong armed (e.g the grabber cannot load their arms with goods).
Maximum limit of four of any of the same sort of product (e.g maximum of four meat and/or poultry items, four lolly items, four chocolate items etc).
Alcohol, lotto, instant kiwi, tobacco and gift vouchers products are excluded, regardless of the age of the winner.
Extra trolleys will be placed at the start line for the grabber to use if required, but not necessary. If using an additional trolley, the first trolley used must be returned to the start line to swap for an empty trolley.
In the event of any dispute regarding the rules, conduct or the results of this competition, the decision of the promoter will be final.
The promoter reserves the right to refuse a prize to any participant or disqualify a participant who breaches any of these terms and conditions or who acts in such a manner that, in the promoter’s sole opinion, tends to bring the promoters or its brand into disrepute.
Video footage of the grocery grab will be used for promotional material including social media, Smash Volleyball and New World Ilam Facebook pages. The winner, and anyone assisting the winner must agree to be filmed and have their images used on social media.
The participant and the trolley pusher (if one is nominated) will be required to wear flat CLOSED TOE shoes and be physically able to participate in the event.
The promoter does not accept any responsibility for any loss, injury or damage whatsoever suffered by any participant as a result of their taking part in the grocery grab. The promoter shall not be liable for any recourse or claims as a result of any kind of physical, mental or other loss or damage suffered due to the participants involvement in the grocery grab.
The contents of the trolley/s will be checked after the grab is complete. If there are any disallowed items, these will be forfeited and returned to New World.
The contents of the trolley/s will be scanned at the till to ascertain the total value of the goods collected during the grocery grab.
The total value of the contents of the trolley must not exceed $1000. If the total value exceeds $1000, the winner will be asked to remove items of their choice to reduce the value of the trolley contents to a maximum of $1000, or optionally pay for items over and above the $1000 limit.
If the winner tests positive for COVID-19 and is isolating, they can nominate another person to do the grab in place, or an alternative date within 10 days can be agreed upon at the discretion of New World Ilam.
100% of all proceeds from the raffle will go to Smash Volleyball Club.
